Music is Beautiful

Have you ever listen to music and just pay attention to the guitar in the background? I have. I wish I can play guitar well enough to entertain myself. I wonder if my guitar playing along with my talented children's violin, drums, and base would make it better using behringer rx1202fx at guitar center.  I think of musical instruments as something beautiful, especially when played in perfect harmony.

This crystal picture is from a visit to Perot Museum of Science and Technology.  What a lovely place. I could spend hours and hours in there.  Unfortunately, I do not remember the name of this display.  It is pretty, don't you think?

Taken by the Duke by Jess Michaels (The Pleasure Wars)

I think I got this book for free from Kindle (Amazon).  I just started reading it, and boy, was this book a pleasure to read.  It has real tragedy and story.  Jess Michaels convinced me that the characters should turn out the way they are.  Usually, in books like this, I would be rolling my eyes. I would roll my eyes so much that a headache would make it impossible to read further.  But here, I love it.  The erotic scenes are very erotic.  In fact, sexual tension and sexual frolicking are just a few things to love about this book.

I would definitely read from this author again.  Usually, I'd flipped through the obligatory sex scenes in my romance books, but the ones in this book are meant to be savored. I have always wanted a book that is romantic and erotic.  This one is a rare gem indeed to have delivered both.

From Amazon:
An eye for an eye, a sin for a sin…
The Pleasure Wars, Book 1
Amid all the lies and scandals that fuel Society’s gossip mill, one truth has stood out: House Rothcastle and House Windbury have always hated each other.

Lady Ava Windbury prays the feud will someday end, to no avail. One dreadful night, her brother accidentally causes the death of Christian Rothcastle’s sister, a tragedy that leaves both men maimed.
Consumed by grief, Christian makes a grim decision. He will kidnap Lady Ava so that her family will feel the pain of loss as keenly as he feels the loss of his own sister. But once he has Ava in his clutches, desire takes unexpected hold. Even more surprising, she willingly surrenders to his every sexual whim—after haggling over the terms of giving up her virginity.

Too late, he realizes she is using her body for peace, not war. But just as their affair of revenges turns into an affair of the heart, the past rears its ugly head to take matters into its own hands…
Warning: This book contains scenes of erotic seduction, sexual revenge and the healing power of love.

This picture was taken during our walks at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs last summer. I was just thinking what a nice place to picnic and bring a guitar and sing.  Not for a crowd, but for just enjoyment.  My children went to guitar camp last summer  and had a blast.  However, I do not know who to tune a guitar, and this one is set to D.  Evidently, the folk song tuning. I would really like it to be on the pop song tuning.  In the meantime, I have these guitars hanging around.  All my kids are so busy with school they cannot find time to play with it, I need a classic wall mount guitar hanger at musicians friend.  It is fortunate that I have a lot of wall space left.  That is not a problem. I just wanted something secure to put my guitar.

The Heir by Grace Burrowes

I was desperate for non-law books after my Fall semester last year.  I also wanted to only read about Dukes.  Well, after I ran out of Dukes in my titles, I noticed this book.  I started reading to see what he was an "heir" of, and I was hooked. I cannot put the book down, and I ended up staying up all night to finish reading.

I love the dynamics of Gayle and his brothers.  I am a sucker for having a good and fun brotherly relationship...even half-brothers.  Gayle's parents, who should have been annoying as they interfere in his life a lot.  They wanted Gayle married and get on with the business for heir-production.  I find his parents adorable.

Grace Burrowes has an excellent talent of making a reader fall in life with all his characters.  It is simply a treat to read her books.  I would put her right along my most favorites of authors:  Eloisa James (dare I say even better than?), Julia Quinn, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Jennifer Donnelly and Nora Roberts (on the brother/sister dynamics, but I find Burrowes books much better overall than Roberts).
From Amazon:

An earl who can't be bribed...
Gayle Windham, earl of Westhaven, is the first legitimate son and heir to the duke of Moreland. To escape his father's inexorable pressure to marry, he decides to spend the summer at his townhouse in London, where he finds himself intrigued by the secretive ways of his beautiful housekeeper...

A lady who can't be protected...
Anna Seaton is a beautiful, talented, educated woman, which is why it is so puzzling to Gayle Windham that she works as his housekeeper.
As the two draw closer and begin to lose their hearts to each other, Anna's secrets threaten to bring the earl's orderly life crashing down-and he doesn't know how he's going to protect her from the fallout...

San Antonio Riverwalk
I definitely like walking the riverwalk in San Antonio when the temperature was in the mid 50s to mid 60s.  It was great. I wish I did not leave it to the very last moment of our trip. I walked with my two oldest kids while the other 3 had breakfast with their dad.  We walked about 2 miles, and on the way back, I flagged down a river taxi. For five dollars each, you can get a ride along the river walk.  It was fun and very nice.

Compose and Create

Alamo, San Antonio

My daughter will have a debut in 2 years. In the meantime, she can start creating her soundtrack. She can be Enya! Are you familiar with this singer? She sings all her voices and background. She was probably using something similar to fishman tripleplay wireless midi pickup at musicians friend. This makes recording multiple instruments very easy. Well, the creative part is hardest for me. I am not very creative that way. I leave that to my 9-yr old some who habitually composes music on our piano.  That is the boy in beige jacket.  It would be great if he finishes one of his composition someday. I know I enjoy listening to his composition even though I am his mother. In fact, I think I would still like his music otherwise.

San Antonio Vacation

walking around downtown San Antonio
I had so much fun going to San Antonio with my family. We stayed at Embassy Suites at Houston St.  It was a great location to walk the river walk.  It was even a walking distance to a mall.  It wasn't the greatest of Malls, but it was a mall.  We walked a lot, even when some days it was really cold.  I think I want to go back there again...but not on the summer. Only on colder weather.  Summer, we will head up North where the winds are colder than Texas.

Walking along Houston Street. I think this is Majestic Theater

San Francisco is a Walking City

Nob Hill, San Francisco
Last July, my husband and I went to San Francisco for vacation. We left the kids at home with my mother and sister.  We stayed at Nob Hill. The view was fantastic and the weather couldn't be more perfect.  That whole city was air conditioned even in the height of summer.  It is a walking city and even with its perfect weather, one can get very thirsty walking.  Hotels should offer imprinted water bottles for tourist to carry while they walk all over the city.  It would be so good for the environment and a good advertising for the hotels.  However, being San Francisco, it is hard to go over a quarter of a mile without bumping into a watering hole.  I think my husband and I walked closed to 40 miles in the first 3 days.  We loved it. We will be back.

Back To School

I find that it is quite stressful to have to update my resume for a summer job I really wanted to get.  I think I just have the resume. I have 2 days to get my writing sample finished.  I just need to write statement of interest.  What is that? Isn't the fact that I am filling up a 30 page application enough of an interest statement?  Seriously?  I had better learn to write and write well for the profession I have chosen.  While my darling husband assured me that I do not have to find a job, just get  the J.D., I would rather be gainfully employed considering that getting this degree is hard work.  Yes, hard work.  While this hard work can be performed in lovely clothes and even lovelier shoes, that it not the point.  The point is that it is hard work and I want to use it after. Hence, resume and intent letter.  I hadn't realized what a sheltered life I lead for my age!

Comfort Means Less Bumpy

Garden of the Gods trails
I do not pretend to understand all that a car can do and what makes it work. However, I noticed that when a vehicle consistently and regularly carry heavy loads, some things have better be functioning or it is going to give a most uncomfortable ride. Having these little things in perfect repair could mean the difference between a back pain or a comfortable driving time.  We recently had to service 3 of our heavy duty work vans to make sure these worker vehicle keeps going and perform as it should.
